![]() The other part of Southern Grit is stepping outside the box of traditional food writing. At first, we may get push back because people in the area aren't always shown the truth by reviewers, but our stance is that the only way someone can grow is with constructive criticism. There's a thin line between being honest and being an asshole, and we stay on the side of honesty. We love this area too, but we feel like glossing over things that could be improved only does a disservice to people. The biggest problem I have with a lot of the existing food writing is it has such a bias. First, we want to open up an honest debate on regional food. GC: What will Southern Grit try to provide to readers?ĬF: Southern Grit really has two focuses. Southern because of where we're from, and Grit because of the honesty that makes the backbone of the magazine. ![]() Since we were so stuck on it, we went with it. We kept coming back to "Southern Grit" and Fitz was really pushing for it. I threw out "Pantry" and "Southern Grit" at about the same time. We wanted something edgy to match our content ideas. With keeping it free, though, we invite anyone with an interest in food to join in the conversation.ĬF: Fitz and I tossed around a lot of names. ![]() Between the look of the magazine and the writing, we're striving to be a publication that anyone would gladly pay money for. Southern grit free#It's his attention to detail that is going to draw readers in it's the writing inside that will keep them coming back.ĬF: Southern Grit is a free publication focused on food. All things layout, photography, and design related are Fitz. With the finished product, a lot of the initial appeal is the look. CF: First and foremost, this magazine wouldn't be in existence if Fitz hadn't taken a chance on my writing in the first place. ![]()

Little known facts about Yoshimitsu: In-between Tekken 3 and 4 he really got into cosplay. Being the Lady Gaga of Tekken, it’s amazing that he stuck with the same look for two games in a row. Along the way to the tournament, he found Yoda’s lightsaber while passing through the Dagobah system as well. Unlike in the first version we saw, he is clearly a human wearing a mask…Right? WRONG! Based on his ending video he is a super hero who can leap from the ground onto a helicopter to save a doctor, who can use his freaking sword as a helicopter propeller!Īpparently Raiden’s hat and his creepy mask and earrings decided to fuse themselves to Yoshimitsu’s head at this point. In the next version of Yoshimitsu, he lost his horns and found Raiden’s hat rack. All we really know is that he is an equestrian who upon becoming the King of Iron Fist Tournament dumps all of his money into the streets for the poor. We don’t know much about Yoshi at this point. Yoshimitsu has always been a fan favorite, and this is how he began… as some sort of Neo-Shogun. Way back in 1994, Tekken was released in arcades and it hit the original PlayStation shortly thereafter. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and see how fighting game’s favorite sword-wielding Robot-Alien-Samurai-Bug dude has changed throughout the years. ![]() ![]() His new look in Tekken 7 has been turning heads, and only builds towards his legacy of bizarre character design. In the beginning, our goal was to offer a fresh take on the range of iconic 1950’s hues. My aunt, who comes from the fashion industry, helped us create the color palette. How did you decide on what colors to offer - and which is your personal favorite? Second homes: Home styles can vary widely but these customers are typically trying to create a space that is fun, relaxing and not-too-serious.Modern homes: These customers are often looking for a pop of color and design to make a statement in their kitchens.Cottages, bungalows and mid-century homes: Our fridges fit perfectly into these period-style homes.I see our fridge go into a wide variety of spaces and styles, but three trends stick out to me: (Photos: Big Chill) What types of spaces do you envision the Retro fridge in? Have you noticed any patterns in the styles of interiors the fridge is going into? We also include a temperature management syste m, automatic moisture control, glass shelving and optional ice makers. Unlike fridges from the 50’s, our units are all frost-free. These fridges combine colorful, nostalgic design wi th modern performance. Aside from the look, what qualities set the Retro fridge apart? We’ve expanded our color choices, as well, and now offer up to 200 custom colors for each product. Today we offer a complete kitchen package, with three different lines of products: Retro, Pro and Classic. We started with a dishwasher, followed by stoves and hoods in a variety of different color options. Soon after, our customers started requesting other appliances to complete their retro-inspired kitchens. Our initial fridge launch was far more successful than we had planned. Our main goal throughout the process was to stay true to mid-century design while updating the aesthetic and level of performance. We knew people would be open to a colorful alternative if we could build it. Refrigerators became sterile square boxes offered in white, black and stainless steel. Over the next few decades, they became a commodity driven only by function and price point. In 1955, fridges were seen as a staple element in the kitchen - a piece of art. We saw a gap in the appliance market for fridges that honored their original design. What inspired you to create the Retro fridge? What were your main goals throughout the design process? ![]() My aunt and uncle came to me and said, “Somebody should start a fridge company where the fridges would look old but they would be new on the inside.” As a recent industrial design graduate with a lifelong passion for retro design - especially fridges, I was eager and excited to take on the challenge. Those old fridges were typically small and energy inefficient. My uncle resisted installing a vintage fridge because it was for his family’s second home, and he didn’t want to continuously defrost it. The idea for Big Chill was conceived when my aunt and uncle wanted a retro fridge for their new cottage, but couldn’t find a modern, functional version that existed. I collected vintage fridge doors as art when I was in college, and I’ve always loved mid-century design. When my aunt and uncle came to me with the idea to start Big Chill in 2001, I was all in. Tell us about your background, how Big Chill came to be and what the company offers? We chatted with Creamer about his design inspiration, the applications of the Retro fridge and how Big Chill was founded. Among these is the Retro fridge, which blends a vintage vibe with modern capabilities and brings a pop of color and character to a kitchen. A new section you may notice on the Stadia “Home” section on desktop is a new UI portion called “Get to know Stadia.” This does not appear to be a library replacement as the “Your library” tab still lives underneath this revamped section. It also seems that free-to-play or promoted games will also appear in this list. Rather than having a large thumbnail for your most recently played game(s), the new Stadia UI has a large “Game on” banner that lets you “resume playing or discover new games and players to play with.” Selected titles in your account may appear here prompting you to play with public open parties with the quick ability to join parties and jump in. This comes almost six months after the Store pages were given an overhaul and makes it even easier to jump into your games with a card-style layout and simple “Resume playing” buttons for recently played titles. Cube Notation lets the reader know what face to turn, in which direction so they can use the algo. These algos are written down using cube notation. An Algorithm (algo for short) is a sequence of moves thatĬauses certain pieces on the cube to move or rotate in certain ways. In the diagrams I use for examples, I will use the following face positions:Ĭube Notation is basically the language of algorithms. Just remember that the bottom face isn’t B or else you’ll have 2 B faces. The bottom is D for Down face.Īnd the back face is B for Back. R standing for Right and L standing for Left. The cube faces on the right and left side of the cube are the R and L faces. Now if you hold your cube strait in front of your face, the face of the cube directly in front of you is called the F face, which stands for Front. If you can already solve a 3×3 Rubik’s cube or are familiar with notation and face names, then you can skip this part.įace names are very simple to understand and they let you know which face to turn while reading cube notation. #RUBIKS CUBE FLIP CENTER 180 HOW TO#Before we start getting into solving the first layer, there are some important things you should learn like how to read cube notation and learning the names of the faces on the cube. This may sound very confusing to you (or not make sense at all) but don’t worry, everything will be explained in theįollowing pages. So first, you solve the first layer, then you orient the last layer, then you permute the last layer. This tutorial uses the same method used in the “Ryan’s Guild to Speed Cubing” except without any steps involving edges. It’s also recommended (if you want to solve fast) that you lubricate your cube by spraying silicone (such as Jig-A-Loo) lube into the cracks of the cube and working the lube around. If you have no experience with solving Rubik’s cubes what so ever, there is an element or memorization required but don’t let this worry you, with practice you’ll remember everything with ease. For example if your cube’s colour scheme is White opposite Yellow, Green opposite Blue, and Red opposite Orange, green and blue will never be adjacent when solved because they are on opposite sides. When a 2×2 cube is solved, the colour scheme will always remain the same no matter how many times you solve. It’s recommended that you read (or at least look over) the “Ryan’s Guild to Speed Cubing” before reading this due to the fact that the method and algorithms are insanely close to being the same. The 2×2 is like a 3×3 cube without edge or center pieces (displayed in picture below) This is because solving a 2×2 cube is very closely related to solving a 3×3. It’s strongly advised (but not necessary) to have complete, or at least partial, knowledge of how to solve a 3×3 cube.First of all, you’ll need a 2×2 Rubik’s cube, which you obviously have or you. ![]() Before you start learning to solve, there are a few things you should have, and a few ![]() |
